my life as a artist
im only a poor little sparrow

I'm sorry about the recent dearth of blogginess everybody. Due to circumstances beyond my control there seems to be some sort of financial crisis going on out there, and as an artist and performer I appear to have become a luxury item. The God-is-my-agent approach, which has served me well for the last ten years, doesn't seem to be so effective in the present economic climate, so I've been having to flex long dormant 'go-out-and-get-it muscles'.
Entering into the brutal cut-and-thrust of the advertising world, I've felt a desperate need for more energy and drive, so I've taken to eating modest portions of cheese every other Monday. I find that for sheer aggression you can't beat a nice bit of Wensleydale. When one thinks that there's PR companies out there like Itchi and Saatchi, who can successfully promote really unpleasant products like the Tory party and Damien Hirst, you realise the competition is stiff.
I, as a product, like to think of my commodified soul as generally more nourishing and appealing than that of the Tory party or Damien Hirst, so I'm hoping I won't need as big a budget as Itchi and Saatchi, or have to tell as many blatant untruths.
At the moment I'm having prints made of my art and am hoping to sell them on-line. (If I tell you about them now, I don't want you to think that I've started advertising, OK? The artistic spirit of this blog has yet to be compromised by the commercial imperative and I want you to regard the following as just another every-day, glittering shard of truth splintered from the fractured narrative of an ordinary Rory blog.)
I've had five pieces scanned so far and because they've generally been reduced from A1 to A3 they've taken on a certain bejewelled quality, and the colours are strong, faithful and true, like a good donkey. Obviously, in order to describe any work of art, one is always bound to verge on a wordless precipice, and yet with the help of a handy thesaurus I can honestly say that these prints are truly very, very bloody quite good nice.
If I can't hack the advertising world I'll go back to the God-is-my- agent thing again, only this time offer him a bigger cut.

Your soul needs to be homogenised to make it suitable for labelling and packaging. Meanwhile my validation word is 'melt' and I think we are on a roll. PS: I can send you a replica ancient goddess figurine if that helps.

You could get your paintings put onto place mats and coasters so that you can 'car boot' them. I wouldn't rely too much on God, he's just a casual bystander these days. As for cheese, I recommend Shropshire Blue but get it from the deli' counter rather than pre-packed.
Validation word is 'easy', just how I like it.

I guess God is too busy promoting Bonio, The Rim and those other Dublin chaps known as "ChristnotbloodyU2again" to worry about you. You need yet more cheese, and to give God a harder time. Thats what he's there for. Validation word "employ" ! Go Go !
